Obituary for Clarence "Lindy" Elias Lindberg

Longtime resident of McMinnville, Clarence Elias Lindberg, “Lindy” as he was known to all, passed away peacefully just shy of his 99th birthday, on March 23, 2018.
Lindy was born in Goldendale, Washington to Elias and Marie (Burgland) Lindberg. He spent his youth on the hills and rivers around Klickitat, WA then graduated from Benson Tech in Portland, OR in 1937.
He served in the Army from March 1941 – October 1945 spending most of that time in the South Pacific Theater, reaching the rank of Sergeant. He met and married Sylvia Mahoney Courtney, or “Silver” as he called her, in 1953. Together they not only built a home but a place of refuge for family, friends, and even strangers.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Sylvia, daughter Mary Courtney Buchanan, infant son Peter James, sisters Ellen, Mabel, Ida, and Julia. He was also preceded in death by all his friends and contemporaries which were legion.
There will be a memorial service held at Macy & Son on April 8th, at noon, followed by a reception at Golden Valley Brewery, where we can share love, laughter, memories and food in celebration of a life well lived and full of light. We will miss that light.
