Obituary for Curtis Brian Johnston

Curtis Brian Johnston passed away at his home in Dayton, OR with his family on August 29th. Curtis was 66 years old. He is survived by his wife Sally Johnston from St. Paul; children, Brian, Rebecca, Kit, and Camie; and granddaughters, Kennadi, Kwynn, and McCall.
Curt was born on October 9th, 1950 in Woodburn, OR to Patrick and Dolores Johnston. Curt was a lifelong entrepreneur and farmer. He owned several businesses including a trucking business, an express lube, a laundromat, and a donut shop. He drove school bus for a while, served on the Yamhill ESD board, and was a part of the Oregon Chicken Fryer Commission. He farmed many things including dahlia bulbs with which he created the Dahlia Festival in Woodburn. Curt then built and operated chicken farms in Oregon and Washington for the next 30 years. He was an avid classic and antique car collector. Curt lived his life taking chances on opportunities that were presented to him and creating even more.
The family is holding an open house memorial service at Curt’s home farm in Dayton on Saturday September 2nd. He will be buried next to his roller coaster.
