Obituary for Dale George Schumacher

Dale G. Schumacher, age 86, passed away peacefully with family by his side on June 18, 2017.
Dale was born September 7, 1930 near Uniontown WA to Barthol and Helen (Herboth) Schumacher. He grew up, one of seven, on the family farm in the Thorncreek area between Uniontown WA and Moscow ID. Dale attended Moscow High School. In May of 1951 he married Mona McVean. He graduated from the University of Idaho and became a teacher moving to Camas WA. He later moved the family to International Falls, MN before coming to McMinnville in 1970. After his years at the Chamber, Dale worked for Century 21 Real Estate before founding Schumacher Shoes. He and Mona were happily married for 66 years.
Dale held many jobs over the years but his fondest memories were from his time as Manager of the Chamber of Commerce here in McMinnville. He was happy to return to McMinnville for the last months of his life and to be near his grandchildren. They helped to make his last months more enjoyable.
Dale is survived by his wife, Mona, brothers Herb Schumacher (Colleen), Don Schumacher (Susie), son Steve Schumacher (Kathy), daughter Chris Bernards (Michael), eleven grandchildren Christi, Marvin, Abby, Meggie, Caity, Amber, Tara, Cory, Bill, Angie, and Lindsey, and fourteen great grandchildren.
Special thanks to Janine Winchester for her loving support. Memorial contributions can be made to Serenity Hospice care of Macy and Son.
Service will be Wednesday, June 28th at St. James Church, at 11:00am.
