Obituary for Danny Joe Martin

Danny passed away on March 29, 2017 with his family by his side at home in McMinnville, Oregon, at the age of 79 years old. He was born on June 12, 1937 in Quapaw, Oklahoma to Charles & Rose Martin. The family moved to Oregon when he was 11 years old. Danny graduated from Amity High School in 1956 where he met and later married his high school sweetheart, Nelda Ann Carter in 1958. He served in the Oregon Army National Guard from 1956-1964. He retired from Archway Cookies in 1994. Danny's favorite pastimes included spending quality time with family and friends. He especially loved camping and early morning fishing with Nelda and their children. He also loved gardening, repairing things, and watching football. In later years, Danny enjoyed playing cards and board games, especially Yahtzee. He was affectionately known as the "Yahtzee Shark".

Danny is survived by his wife Nelda, daughter, Gail George (Richard) and sons, Douglas Martin (Coree), David Martin (Elaine), Wesley Martin (Linda) and Brian Martin. They also have 7 grandchildren, and 11 great grandchildren, and 1 great great granddaughter.

Danny was preceded in death by his parents, 9 siblings, one son Timothy Martin and one grandson Christopher Martin.

A memorial service will be held at 1:30pm, April 1, 2017 at Macy & Sons Chapel. A reception celebrating Danny's life will be announced at a later date.
