Obituary for Darryle Jerome Holm

Darryle was born in Willmar, Minnesota, to Reuben William Holm and Grace Viola Holm (nee O'Hair). When he was six his family moved to Portland, Oregon. Darryle graduated from Parkrose High School.
Drafted into the U.S. army in 1965 during the Viet Nam War, he was trained as a helicopter crew chief but served as a baker at Fort Mead, Maryland from 1965-1967. He was married to Corrine Miller in 1966 and divorced in 1986. He is survived by their three children, Eric Holm of Aloha, Oregon; Holly Petersen of Anchorage, Alaska; and Kendra Castle of Gresham, Oregon; seven grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren; also three brothers, Dan Holm of Welches, Oregon; Dale Holm of Klamath Falls, Oregon; Larry Holm of Eagle Creek, Oregon; and one sister, Margo Bedell of Lopez Island, Washington. His older brother, Don Holm, pre-deceased him. Darryle is survived by his wife, Annette Andre Holm, whom he married in 1999. They lived in Florence, Oregon, until they moved three years ago to Hillside Retirement Community in McMinnville, Oregon. Darryle worked in construction most of his life. He liked to say "I've built everything from an outhouse to a five-story steel building." At times he was a union carpenter, at times a partner with his brothers in construction companies. He was a great problem solver. He loved hunting and fishing and his family. We will greatly miss his quiet love and infectious smile.
A celebration of life is planned for September 30 from 2-4 p.m. in the Wellness Center at Hillside Retirement Community in McMinnville.
