Obituary for Dolly Rose Dugger

Dolly Rose Dugger was called home to our Lord on Friday, February 23, 2018. She was born November 14, 1932, in Herington, Kansas the daughter of Russell Albert and Martha Rosaline (Murray) Sinclair.

After moving from Kansas to California and Southern Oregon, the family settled in McMinnville where Dolly attended McMinnville High School. At the age of 20, Dolly worked as a waitress at a local diner when William Earl Dugger walked in the door and changed her life forever. She knew the moment she saw him that he was the one. Their first date was on New Years Eve, they were engaged on Valentine’s Day, and married Memorial Weekend, May 30, 1953. Bill and Dolly had two children, Rosemary and William Earl, Jr.

The couple spent the rest of their lives traveling and hunting around the world. Dolly loved to entertain, knit, travel, camp, decorate cakes, and bake. She was an exceptional cook, desserts were her specialty. Dolly loved making treats and sharing them with anyone she came in contact with. If you didn’t receive cookies, truffles, a hand-knit object, or some other imaginative creation from her, she would most certainly tell you a joke. She had a giving heart and loved to make people smile.

Dolly is preceded in death by her husband Bill in 2006 and son, Bill, Jr., in 2009. Her twin brother, Dean, who passed in 2012; sister, Caroline, passed in 2015; and brother, Duane, who died at age 11 in 1940. Also, sisters-in-law Genie Olsen, June Mady, Betty Lincoln, Dollie Mae Derby, and Jackie Sue Hamilton, and brother-in-law, James Glowe.

Dolly was an amazing role model to her daughter, Rosemary Rice (Dennis Rice), her three granddaughters Breann Gilbert (Brian Gilbert), Kara Wanner (Steven Wanner), and Kelsey Rice. She adored her three great-granddaughters McKynzie Cross, Malia Wanner, and Avery Gilbert, and was thankful for time spent with sister-in-law, Loretta Sinclair and brother-in-law, Frank Olsen, and a multitude of nieces and two nephews.

Interment will be held Saturday, March 3, 2018, 1:00 p.m. at Evergreen Memorial Park. Family and friends welcome. A service and reception will follow at First Christian Church, 1300 SE Brooks St, McMinnville, at 2:00 p.m.
