Obituary for Ethel Lydia Harper

Ethel Lydia Harper, longtime resident of Yamhill, OR, passed away peacefully on April 2, 2017 at her home. She was born on April 19, 1926 in Carson City, NV. Ethel was the first child of Merideth Howard and Gladys May (Bull) Howard.
On September 12, 1945, Ethel married the love of her life, Philip A. Harper, who preceded her in death in 1985. They lived in Nevada, California and then settled with their family in Oregon. Ethel spent many hours enjoying her skills of crocheting, needlework, and knitting. Her world revolved around her love of people, always looking forward to another great grandchild to hold. She had a passion for animals, always having a wide variety of pets in her home. She spent her last few years at Vineyard Heights Assisted Living, enjoying the company of many great friends and beloved workers.
Ethel was preceded in death by her parents and son, David. Her surviving children are Mary Ringo, Carol (Curt) Hill, Kathy (Bob) McMurray, James (Sharon) Harper, Greg (Freda) Harper, Sam (Dian) Harper, Rebecca (Rickie) Gilmore, Ruth (Kenny) Payne, and Esther (Brian) Jensen. Her brother Merideth Jr. Howard (Merle) resides in Carson City, NV.
Ethel’s funeral will be Friday, April 7, 2017 at the Yamhill Chapel of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints at 10:00 am. A viewing will be held on Thursday, April 6th at Chapel of Macy and Son from 3:00-7:00 pm. Interment will be at Yamhill Pioneer Cemetery.
