Obituary for Eugene Norman Bauman

Eugene N. Bauman, of Clatskanie, OR passed away Thursday, July 20th surrounded by his family at Frontier Rehabilitation Center in Longview, WA at the age of 90. He was born in Portland, OR and moved with his parents to Otis, OR when he was eight years old. Gene graduated from Taft High School in Lincoln City in 1943. Shortly thereafter, he enlisted in the Marines where he served for two years before being discharged in 1946 after WWII ended. In 1951 he married Mary Launer and the two lived together in Lincoln City where Gene worked in the logging industry. On April 4, 1952 the couple had their son Phil. Phil grew up in Lincoln city and graduated from Taft High school like his father. In 1978 Gene and Mary moved to Clatskanie, OR where he worked as the yard boss for L. Jepson & Sons Logging until his retirement. His beloved wife Mary passed away on March 23, 2007 in their Clatskanie home. The happy couple were married 56 years. Gene enjoyed bowling fishing, hunting and was an avid Elks member at the Ocean Lakes Lodge. Later in life, Gene particularly enjoyed golfing weekly with his friends at the Mint Valley Golf Course. Geno is survived by his son Phil, grandchildren Nick, Ben & Rhiannon, as well as his five great-grandchildren Reagan, Reece, Beau, Sydney and Madeline. Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 29th at Macy & Son Mortuary in McMinnville OR at 2:30pm. All who wish to honor his life are welcome to attend.
