Obituary for Jack W. Miller

Jack Wallace Miller died peacefully on the 3rd of August 2017 in McMinnville, OR. He was 88 years old.
Jack was born on Christmas day, 1928, in his parent’s home in Forest Grove, OR, to Frederick and Florence Miller. Jack spent much of his childhood and youth in Clatskanie and Westport, OR.
He joined the army in 1951 and served in Germany in an artillery battalion as a truck driver. Fascinated with cars and driving he returned home and spent much of his adult life driving truck for the forest products industry, working for many years for Allied J&H. and later Olympic Forest Products in Mist, Oregon. Jack always enjoyed his own cars as well, owning a classic 1965 Chevrolet convertible and many new cars.
Jack married Margaret Thompson in 1970 and became step father to her four sons. They spent many happy years in Vernonia and Mist before moving to McMinnville.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents Fred and Florence Miller, brother Don Miller, sister Eleanor Hettick and step son John Thompson. He will be greatly missed by his wife Margaret Miller, step sons LaVern VonHeeder, Alan VonHeeder, David VonHeeder, many grandchildren and great grandchildren, nieces and nephews and many close friends.
A memorial service will be held Friday, August 11th at 11AM at Evergreen Park Cemetery. Friends and family are welcome.
