Obituary for James "Jim" Lewis Ennis

Born March 4, 1926, in Los Angeles, California, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on June 10, 2017 at his home in McMinnville, Oregon.

Jim served in the US Army, worked on various farms in eastern Oregon and in 1950 was a truck driver for Interior Grocery in Walla Walla, Washington prior to moving to Portland where he worked for Wadhams Wholesales Grocers as a warehouseman until the late 60’s. He then moved into management as a supervisor. The company changed hands to American Strevell and eventually sold to Fleming Foods where he retired in 1988 as the Transportation Manager. Through the years Jim was also a farmer raising nuts, chickens, beef, grain, hay, and a family.
He was a good example for his children and grandchildren showing them the value of a good work ethic and love of family. He married Elizabeth J. (Bauer) on November 8, 1950. They celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary in November 2016.

He is survived by wife, Elizabeth, three children; Marilyn (Ennis) Smith, of Kennewick, Washington, Gerald Ennis, of Kettle Falls, Washington, and Thomas Ennis of McMinnville, Oregon. Four grandchildren, and ten great grandchildren. Jim was preceded in death by his father and mother, four bothers, and three sisters.

Funeral services will be held at Macy & Son Funeral Home (135 NE Evans St. McMinnville, Oregon) on Friday, June 16, 2017 at 11:00am. Services will be officiated by Pastor Hurty of Grace Baptist Church. Viewing hours will be Thursday, June 15th from 4-7pm at Macy’s.
A gathering of family and friends will follow immediately after services hosted at the Grace Baptist Church (215 East Monroe St. Carlton, OR 97111).

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Legacy Hospice or Newberg FFA.
