Obituary for John Bernard Harmon, Jr.

John Bernard Harman, Jr., age 71, passed away peacefully on November 28, 2017 at the Willamette Valley Medical Center in McMinnville, Oregon. He was born on May 27, 1946 in Los Banos, California to his parents John and Alma Harman. His father was a farmer and land leveling contractor and his mother was a homemaker. Their home and ranch was in Dos Palos, a town located in the San Joaquin Valley of California.

John graduated from Our Lady of Mercy School and then attended Cal Poly before moving back to Dos Palos where he raised a family. Like his father, John loved the land. He worked as a farmer and then land leveler for close to 50 years. In 2014, he and his wife of 37 years, Mary, moved to Sheridan, Oregon. In Oregon, John worked at Valley Feed and Supply, Buchanan Cellers right up to his passing.

John was an incredibly hard worker. He was also very patriotic; he always flew the American flag. In addition, John loved gardening, sharing his vegetables with others, taking care of his dogs, feeding the birds, and enjoying the river view from his deck.

John is survived by his wife, Mary Harman; daughters, Channa (Jim) Wardle, Kelly (David Brinkley) Harman, Krysta (TJ) Parsons, Stephanie (Jay) Legard, Darlene (Paul) Demmers, and Jennifer (Nick) Adamy; eleven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and “son” Tim. John is also survived by his mother Alma; and sisters, Lilly, Kathleen, and Beverley. He was preceded in death by his father, John Harman Sr.

A Celebration of Life will be held in the spring of 2018 in Dos Palos, California. In lieu of flowers, donations in his name may be made to: Homeward Bound Pets, PO Box 8, 10601 SE Loop Road, McMinnville, OR 97128.
