Obituary for Pamela Swaggart (Kennedy)

Services for Pamela (Kennedy) Swaggart, 72, Lincoln City, Oregon will be held on January 26, 2:00 pm, at Canby New Life Foursquare Church, Canby, with Pastor Ron Swor officiating. Interment took place at Willamette Valley National Cemetery.
Pam died due to complications from Alzheimer’s at 10:15 am, January 3, 2018, at Pacifica Senior Living memory care in McMinnville, the daughter of John and Helen Kennedy.
Pam was born Dec 25, 1945 in Portland at Emanuel Hospital. She was married to Ken Swaggart Dec 19, 1966, in Milwaukie, Oregon
Pam graduated from Portland’s St Mary’s Academy in 1962. She was an excellent singer proud of the leads she had in Cinderella, Pirates of Penzance, and other musicals. During high school she volunteered at St. Mary’s Boys Home helping care for orphaned children. This experience stayed with her throughout her life, and contributed to her strong compassion for children.
Pam loved to travel and enjoyed the many places she lived and visited in Asia, the Pacific, Europe, and in the United States. While living in Virginia Beach, Virginia for five years, Pam was a volunteer counselor on the Christian Broadcasting Network’s 700 Club program.
After moving to Foster City, California in the San Francisco Bay area, Pam worked for the San Mateo School District for 10 years, first as an instructional aide for at risk high school students, and later as a library assistant. Both jobs brought her a lot of satisfaction as she enjoyed working with the high school age kids. She always cherished the time spent mentoring several single mothers during this time.
In 2001, Pam and Ken retired and moved to Lincoln City, Oregon to be closer to parents and siblings in the Willamette Valley. Pam very much enjoyed entertaining friends and family at her home in the Roads End neighborhood.
Surviving are her mother Helen Kennedy of Canby, husband Ken of Lincoln City, daughter Carolyn Croyle, son Michael, brothers Dan and David Kennedy, sister Lisa Bond, two grandchildren, one greatgrandchild, and an extended family that considered her their grandmother.
Memorial Contributions may be made to the Salvation Army, Cascade Division.
