Obituary for Raymond Virgil Williams

Raymond Virgil Williams left this earth November 20, 2017, with family by his side at his home in Yamhill, Oregon. Raymond was 86 years old. He was born October 13, 1931, on Irish Hill, Bodega Bay, California, to parents Virgil and Lucille Williams. His early years were spent in Sonoma County, California, where he was very involved with 4-H and FFA. After graduating in 1950 from Analy High School in Sebastopol, California, he joined the Air Force, serving during the Korean War. He was stationed Yong Dong Po, South Korea. In 1953, while stationed at Lowry Air Force Base, he met the love of his life, Gretchen A. Lamb. The two were married on May 10, 1954, in Colorado. The newlyweds moved to Sebastopol to help run the family dairy. Raymond and Gretchen started their family in 1956. The family moved to the Yamhill County area in 1965. After several years, they sold the dairy and he went to work for Publishers Paper Company as a refiner operator. He retired after 30+ years. He enjoyed his very large family, drives to the beach, Mariners baseball, watching the Seahawks and his occasional casino getaway.
Raymond was preceded in death by his wife, Gretchen; and his sister, Elgie Netto. Raymond is survived by his five children, Jim Williams (Marge), Mary Rogers, Andy Williams (Debbie), Edie Williams, and Joe Williams; 14 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
