Obituary for Roberta May Ruebel

Roberta B. Ruebel passed away April 20, 2017 at the age of 87. She was born in Wichita, KS on December 29, 1929 to Ellis and Pauline Beals. She married Richard Ensle in Sedgewick, KS on February 12, 1950. They raised four kids; Rick, Carolyn, Harold, and Luanne. She divorced in December of 1974.
With her love of music and perfect pitch, Roberta was very active in the choir of the Rocky Mountain Church in Estes Park, CO. She was also very involved in the local theater group, directing the music for various plays such as Pajama Game, Oklahoma, and Sound of Music. She was Assistant to the Dean at the University of Colorado Boulder, from 1974-1979.
Roberta met and married Chuck Ruebel at the First Presbyterian Church in Boulder, CO in 1978. They retired and moved to Palm Harbor, FL in 1983. There, they became involved in many church activities. Roberta served as an Elder in the Presbyterian Church. She sang in the church choir and served as interim Choir Director while the church was looking for a new director. She was President of the Presbyterian Women. She loved to sew, making designs on her computer and then sewing them out.
In 1997, they moved to a cottage at Hillside Continuing Care Retirement Homes in McMinnville. Over 19 years at Hillside, she served on various committees and sang in the Hillside Choir. She was also active in the First Presbyterian Church of McMinnville as an Elder, Choir, and Bell Choir Member. She was always a strong advocate for many Mission initiatives, always giving to all causes close to her heart. Along with her husband, Chuck, she helped with Community Dinner to the end.
She is survived by her husband of 38 years, Chuck Ruebel, children; Rick Ensle of Kanab, UT, Carolyn (Jacques) Rendu of McMinnville, Harold (Zdena) Ensle of Arvada, CO, and Luanne (Rich) Leder of Wilmington, NC, grandchildren; Camille Ensle, James Ensle, Veronika Ensle, Thomas Ensle, Natalie Ensle, David Leder, Eric Leder, and Kate Leder. Brothers David Beals and Edwards Beals preceded her in death.
A service will be held Friday, May 5, 2017 at 10:00am at First Presbyterian Church of McMinnville. In lieu of flowers, donations in Roberta’s memory may be made to “For Haiti With Love” (www.forhaitiwithlove.org), PO Box 1017, Palm Harbor, FL 34682.
