Obituary for Verda Louise Hacker

Verda Louise Hacker passed away on November 27, 2017, at the age of 89. She was born in San Gabriel, California and grew up in Garvey, California. She attended Garvey High School, where she played trumpet in their marching band. After graduating, she moved to Yamhill, Oregon in 1948, where she met Clifford Hacker. Three months later, they were married on July 11, 1948. They settled in the Pike area where they eventually built their first home. They had a daughter and a son together. In 1961, they bought a farm north of Yamhill. She became Clifford’s #1 farmhand, driving tractors, combines, and taking care of “Hacker’s Happy Hogs”. Verda was Nannie to six grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren; her favorite title. She worked lots of different jobs, but Archway Cookies and Meir & Frank were the longest held jobs. Verda was a very hard worker, dependable, and loyal, winning “Outstanding Employee of the Month” several times for Meir & Frank. Verda loved doing anything with her husband, camping, fishing, and farming. She loved her family, feeding people, and was very welcoming to her extended family, hosting many out of town guests. She will be remembered for her sunny disposition, open heart, and her boundless energy. She was a “Great Lady”!
Verda was preceded in death by her husband, Clifford Hacker, grandsons Shon Hacker and David Weise, a grandbaby, Amy Kathleen Weise, and her three siblings. She is survived by her son, David Hacker, daughter CeCe Weise, six grandchildren, and thirteen great grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday, December 2, 2017 at the Yamhill Christian Church, at 10:00am. Private interment will take place at Yamhill-Carlton Pioneer Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Research Foundation in care of Macy & Son.
