Dale A. Laird 72 passed away peacefully February 27 2017 surrounded by family and close friends at Willamette Valley Medical Center in McMinnville.
Dale was born in Portland, Oregon May 14, 1944 to Lynden and Louise Laird. The family moved to McMinnville when he was 2 years old. He graduated from McMinnville High School in 1962. While in high school he played football and basketball and earned letters in each sport. He did track and held the discus record (157 1/2 ft.) for 47 years. After high school he joined the National Guard, finished his tour of duty, then enrolled at Linfield College where he met the love of his life, Jackie. They married June 10, 1967 in Seattle, Washington. They lived in Medford, Or., Yakima, Wa., and Boise, Idaho where their daughter Jennifer was born before moving back to McMinnville.
In 1976 he started his own company, Northwest Business Systems, selling copying machines
and other business equipment; he sold the company in1998.
Dale enjoyed hunting, playing tennis, fishing, and crabbing at Pacific City, and was an avid golfer playing 3 times a week at Michelbook C.C. Dale was a car buff owning several corvettes, and Porsches, plus a number of other cars; too many to mention.
Dale was preceded in death by his parents Lynden & Louise, his younger brother Mark and aunt
Henerietta Davies. He is survived by his wife Jackie of 49 years, daughter Jennifer, older brother Lynden (Bob), uncle John Willard, sister-in-law Carol Laird, aunt Bonnie Larsen and cousins.
A celebration of life will be held at Michelbook Country Club 1301 NW Michelbook Lane, McMinnville March 27th from 1:00 to 3:00 pm.
