Obituary - Helen Mae Johnston

Funeral/Memorial Services for Helen Johnston of McMinnville will be held Monday April 6, 2009 at 11:00 am at Chapel of Macy and Son. Helen died March 26, 2009 at Oakwood Country Place in McMinnville. She was 88.

Daughter of George and Minnie Winger???? Londershaysen???, Helen was born on December 26, 1920 in McMinnville Oregon. She was raised and schooled in McMinnville where she graduated from Mac high in 1938. She attended Linfield College for one year. Helen worked for Lockhead during WWII in California. She also lived in Texas before moving back to McMinnville. Helen married Sydney Johnston on august 20, 1950 in ??????????. She worked for Huffendicks in sales and Young world before retiring in 1965. She was a rape victim advocate for the community as well as working as a volunteer at the Henderson house for many years. Helen was a member of Rotana service organization. She liked to garden and was excellent in the yard. Helen also played the organ and was a skilled seamstress.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 1994 and her son, Art in 1998. Survivors include her two sons, George Johnston of Saerwood and Milce Eborall of Madras Oregon, and her two daughters, Mary Stanley of Salem Oregon, and Connie Saunders of Tigard Oregon.
