William "Bill" Freeland, Jr. Obituary

It is a time for human sharing in its deepest sense.
William "Bill" C. Freeland, Jr.

March 13, 1926 - November 27, 2011
Resided in DuBois,, PA

William C. Freeland, Jr. born March 13, 1926, died unexpectedly on November 27 at OSHU in Portland. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 3, 2011 at 2:00 PM at the Chapel of Macy & Son with interment at Willamette National Cemetery, Portland.

Bill had been a resident of McMinnville since 1995. He spent over fifty years in law enforcement, being a member of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department at the Lancaster Station in the Mojave Desert. After moving to McMinnville he worked as a volunteer with the Yamhill County Sheriff's Dept., then McMinnville Police Dept. After deciding he was getting too infirm to continue in that work, he volunteered at the Willamette Valley Medical Center and helped out with Meals On Wheels when he could. He was a WW II veteran, serving in the Army Air Corps as a waist gunner on B-17s.

Bill is survived by his four children, eleven grand children, and five great-grandchildren. The absence of his kindness, love and wonderful sense of humor will leave a hole in many lives.
