Obituary for Ronald Ellison Schock

Ronald Ellison Schock was born on August 24, 1939 to Colonel and Helen Schock in Astoria, Oregon. At an early age the family moved to Seaside and then eventually to Tillamook Oregon. Ron graduated from Tillamook High School in 1957. Ron worked several jobs at an early age including setting pins in a bowling alley for several years. He was in the National Guard in Tillamook for 6 years. Ron married Marmie Elizabeth Trammell on August 7, 1959 and they had 4 children together: Ron Jr., Steven, Caryn, and Todd. Ron worked many years at the Tillamook Cheese Factory before accepting a job with Darigold Creamery in McMinnville, Oregon in 1968. The family moved to their current home in Carlton in 1969. Ron’s passion, outside of his family, was his yard and garden. Ron took great pride in growing the best vegetables, fruit, and flowers on their acreage in Carlton. Motorists would stop by and comment on his yard and garden when he was out working and he loved the wonderful comments. Ron also raised beef and dairy cattle as well as pigs, sheep, and chickens on his farm. After Ron retired from making ice cream in 1992, he worked for a few years as a school bus driver and a janitor at Lafayette Elementary School. He always said working at the school was his favorite job. Ron’s other passion in retirement was spending time with his new friends who rode the Bingo Bus three days a week to Chinook Winds Casino. Ron made many friends riding the bus and at bingo and he looked forward to not only playing the games, but watching the many people that came to enjoy their time playing. Ron also was an avid fisherman ad clam digger. He enjoyed the outdoors very much. Ron was always quick with a joke and liked to tease his grandkids about their love life. He enjoyed his Copenhagen tobacco for 58 years and called it his candy. He will be greatly missed.
Ron is preceded in death by his son Todd, father Colonel, and mother Helen.
Ron is survived by his wife Marmie; sons Ron, Jr. (Ann) of Carlton; Steven (Kelly) of Tracy, California, and daughter Caryn Wenrich of Vancouver, WA; and sisters Judy Morris of Milwaukie, OR and Sandee Angland of Issaquah, WA. Ron and Marmie have 7 grandchildren: Kevin Schock (Caitlyn) of Portland, OR, Mariah Schock of Corvallis, OR, Joey, Parker, and Rachael Schock of Tracy, CA, MacKenzie Wenrich (US Navy deployed), and Liam Wenrich of Vancouver, WA.
There will be a private graveside service for family followed by a Memorial Service to be announced at a later date.
