Obituary for Jesse Price Berry

Jesse Berry passed away on January 24th at 12:42 pm, with his family right beside him at OHSU Hospital in Portland, Oregon. He was 86 years old. He was born in Shattuck, Oklahoma to parents Johnie and Eula Berry. The family owned a grain elevator in Waka, Texas and his mother worked as a postmaster there also.
The family moved to Yamhill, Oregon when Jesse was in Elementary school, and he graduated from Yamhill-Carlton High School. He joined the Air Force and then married his sweetheart, Merry Holdeman, in 1951. They had two children, Cynthia and David.
Jesse was a Pastor for one year and then went into evangelistic ministry going to many churches and holding revivals. But he also loved semi-trucks and drove trucks most of his life. He was a truck-driving preacher.
He loved going to church every Sunday and Bible study during the week. He enjoyed flying airplanes, fishing and target shooting with his friends and family. He was an awesome preacher who loved God with all his heart. He wanted all to know God’s love.
Jesse is survived by his daughter, Cynthia; grandchildren Erin, Kelly, Joshua, Jordan and Kari, as well as 8 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by son, David Berry, and his wife, Merry Berry.
A memorial service will be held Sunday, February 4, 2018 at 2:00 pm at Church on the Hill, McMinnville, Oregon. Memorial donations may be made to Carlton Community Church.
