Obituary for Sidney Ernest Brandon

Sidney Ernest Brandon of Amity, Oregon passed away on February 1, 2018 at the age of 92. Ernie was born on April 8, 1925 in Shelbyville, TN, to Sidney Ernest Brandon Sr. and Ida Mae Brandon, and was one of three children.
Ernie came to Oregon from Tennessee to work in the shipyards during WWII where he met his wife to be, Beatrice Keister, who was working at the shipyards as a welder. After the war, they moved to North Dakota and then to Tennessee, where their daughter Beverly was born. Then they moved to Shelton, Washington where their son, Denny, was born. They then moved to the North Bend, Oregon area to work in a new mill that was being built there; Menasha. Their son, Alan, was born there.
Ernie then worked at Gardiner, Oregon Paper Mill before moving to Amity, Oregon in 1969. He got a job at the paper mill in Newberg, Oregon and worked there until he retired at age 62. He attended Hopewell Community Church for 16 years until he moved to Rock of Ages in McMinnville.
Ernie loved going to auctions, driving the roads around Amity and frequenting all the restaurants in the area. He was known for his sense of humor and pulling pranks on people.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Bea, in 2000, his daughter Bev Burrows, mother Ida Mae, father Sidney, brother Charles Brandon, sister Mary Florence Wheeler, and great grandson Garrett Brandon. He is survived by his two sons, Denny Brandon (Judy) and Alan Brandon (Teresa), seven grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, and three great great grandchildren.
