Obituary for Virgil Elliott Lux, Sr.

A service for Virgil will be held at the Calvary Chapel Church in Sheridan at 11:00am Saturday, February 24th. Virgil passed away unexpectedly February 14th surrounded by friends and family.
He was born February 20, 1939 in Dallas, Oregon. The son of Aulay Wilford “Pete” Lux, Sr. and Florence Fern Lux (Jones). He grew up in the Ballston-Sheridan area. The family settled on Loganberry Lane in the house built by their father. He graduated from Sheridan High School in 1957. He married Jacqueline Rogers April 30, 1960 in the Sheridan Methodist Church. They had three children. Later in life he was baptized in the Sheridan First Christian Church. Virgil worked at the Boise Cascade Plywood Mill in Independence for 42 years. At retirement, he was a shovel operator and log yard Leadman. He took early retirement to care for Jackie. Jackie passed in 2002. He married Marianne Lenhardt December 2003. They adopted two children, Aurora and Castiel.
He enjoyed fishing with family and friends, woodworking, making oven squirrels and many other items, cutting firewood and beating Marianne at cribbage. He liked telling jokes and whistling, watching western movies, reading about old time logging and the Civil War, and tinkering in his workshop. He continued Jackie’s tradition of making and handing out popcorn balls on Halloween.
He loved spending time with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Dad was always willing to help a neighbor or anyone in need. He spent many years as a volunteer fire fighter at the Ballston sub-station. He was a very loving man with a big heart and will be missed dearly.
Virgil is survived by his wife Marianne, children Virgil “Chip” Lux, Jr. (Jackie), Julia Stoller (Gary), Catherine Rice (Matt), Aurora and Castiel Lux, a brother Marvin and a sister Gloria, 10 grandchildren, and 15 great grandchildren. Virgil is preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Jackie, his brother Willy and his infant sister Edith Marie.
