Obituary for Richard "Dick" Carl Horlyk

Richard (Dick) Horlyk went to be with the Lord on May 29, 2018 after a long battle with cancer surrounded by his family.
Born to Carl and Helene Horlyk on September 14, 1944, Dick was brought home from the hospital and lived his whole life on Panther Creek Road, Carlton, OR.
Dick was a hard worker and provided well for his family. He worked in the woods from a very early age, following the footsteps of his dad Carl and Uncle Vigo.
Dick never met a stranger and all loved him well. He could tell a good exaggerated story. A Wopper!
Dick didn’t like school at all. It did not seem to hinder him as he always worked. Very talented building logging roads. He could see a road where no one else could and would build it beautifully.
His past-time was old westerns, over and over again. He also loved snow mobiling and fishing. He loved his grandkids very much. Dick loved to get in the car or pick-up with his wife and go riding about all over Oregon. Many happy memories were made.
Dick leaves his wife of 50 years, Barbara, of Carlton, his daughter, Melissa (Ronald) Gunn, his son, Jonathan Horlyk, 4 grandchildren, Caleb, Christian, Victoria and Elizabeth all of Carlton.
He will be greatly missed by all.
A graveside service will be Tuesday, June 5, 2018 at 11:00 at McBride Cemetery followed by a potluck luncheon at Carlton Lower Park. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Willamette Valley Cancer Foundation c/o Macy and Son.
